Zimbabwe has a special place in our hearts for us here at Oasis Overland. We took trips around this beautiful country for 17 years and we were visiting even longer than that. Here are some reasons why we love it:
... Landscape wildlife adrenaline ... [1945007!] Where else in the world can see mile waterfall you most prodigious long spray that sends 400 meters high in the air and scare you silly by white water rafting quality 5 fast, throwing you a 111m jump high bungee or a 95m gorge swing and end your day sipping a cold beer while watching a herd of elephants enjoying their evening drink at a waterhole? It can not be that Victoria Falls!
across the country Chimanimani National Park in the Eastern Highlands is absolutely beautiful with huge granite mountains and waterfalls water on a slightly smaller scale. He is a true hidden gem where Zimbabweans are surprised and happy to see you and where you can walk in the fresh mountain air.
In Matobo National Park followed by Black Rhino walk again obtained your heart beating. It's very different game viewing from a vehicle! And wonderful scenery here with beautiful sunsets over the vast landscape of outcrops and rocky hills.
Africa is not only the fauna ...
Also in the Matobo National Park, the rock art adorning the walls of the caves were painted thousands of years and to outline the ancient past lives. Further east, the Great Zimbabwe Ruins were built a thousand years ago. It is not on the scale of ancient Egypt, but it is one of the few places to see the past of Africa in archaeological form.
Bulawayo to Victoria Falls Train
train is basic (produced in 1950), but the journey is impressive. You do not expect you to arrive on time, perhaps hours late, but you can spend your time watching the countryside you can not otherwise see and meet other travelers, Zimbabweans and tourists. If you are lucky and depending on the end of the train, you can go to spot game as you go through the Hwange National Park!
Welcome to Zim ...
Zimbabweans are beautiful and make you feel welcome - enough said
