Kyrgyzstan Katie Trip (Part 2) -

Tamara - Kyrgyzstan eagle champioin

from the ... more Kyrgyzstan Katie Trip (part 1)

the day after our fun in Jeti Orguz, some of us chose to watch an eagle screen, where the trainer has presented its 4 times champion eagle - Tamara. Eagle hunters are quite common in Kyrgyzstan and it was great for us to learn about this tradition of someone who was very passionate and obviously cared a lot about his eagle. The screen is impressive, but it was actually heard all about the care and training of an eagle that impressed me most - and the fact that I got to keep Tamara! To end another perfect day (this was the joke of the trip ... like every day was so good!), We created our next back bush camp on the shore of Issyk Kul Lake.

the middle of the trip saw us arrive in Kochkor, which is where we had our 'stay "and therefore a bed and a shower of the trip, which was a real treat. The living room is where you stay with a local family in their home, and they are preparing your evening meal and breakfast for you - and say the food was delicious is an understatement

Following the host family we were treated once again for an amazing day of driving through a valley and slowly make our way to Lake song Kol, where we even had a quick photoshoot with some yaks! As we decended to the lake, it reminded me of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanazania but rather than seeing herds of wildebeest, I watched hundreds of herds of horses, sheep and the odd donkey scattered! This was going to be our implementation for the next three nights, a yurt decorated beutifully near the lakeside. For me, this place was just perfect, as the sunsets were glorious, and I fall asleep and wake to the sound of galloping horses nearby. Having never ridden properly in my life, I decided this was the place to do it - and I was very happy and relieved that my horse was pretty docile! This provided plenty of entertainment, as my horse took me on the road, he wanted to go, rather than where the rest of the group went (but somehow we made it back to the yurt)! Thanks to our tour leader also organized a game Ulak Tartysh (a Kyrgy version of polo!), Where a lamb was killed and the body is hung under the leg of a runner and they have to get it to a goal on field. It is a great game to watch, where you get to watch the amazing riding skills of Kyrgy people, and it has become a social event where other residents are mounted on and ended up joining and continuing along the match for the afternoon.

Extreme beat near Lake song Kol

We all felt a little sad to leave the Kol song, but we were in a lovely surprise, our descent was on the other side of the lake, with views which had been seen to be believed - so hopefully the image of extreme beating does some justice

making our way through the mountains, we pass! done to Tash-Rabat, a caravanserai in very good condition, and our leader and driver agreed it was the best along the Silk Road they saw, so something not to be missed.

back to Bishkek my spirits dropped as the journey was nearing its end, but luckily we had time to visit and climb Burana Tower, a large 24m minaret is all that remains of a once thriving city - but now gives you a chance to see the views all around and a time to take in all that we had seen.

This trip will stay with me forever, and I hope one day I will return to Kyrgyzstan, but in the meantime, I have my photos and a short video to remember!
