From Russia With Love. Red Square in Moscow. -Red Square, Moscow We arrived in Moscow on the night train 003 St. Petersburg. Walking through Red Square a cold October morning has to be one of the most exciting things the iconic I did, I had to pinch myself to believe I'm actually here!We shared our kupe 4 berth with a friendly Russian lady who could speak some English. In the morning, we woke Provodnitsa and offered hot drinks and a sandwich to accompany the little box of treasure that greeted us yesterday, we wondered what the mustard and mayonnaise was for! The train pulled in Moscow at 8 am and we have no desire to rush hour on the subway Mockba so we sat outside in the reading station for an hour to leave the facility.Rather than a hostel, I 'D got us at the Ibis for a generic comfort. They had a special weekend rate which made it quite affordable, Moscow is an expensive city! The Kremlin, MoscowSaturday at noon {mid-May to mid-October} presidential regiment perform ceremonial procession in Sobornaya square {Cathedral Square} to inside the Kremlin. We chose this time to visit the red seat walled citadel, the Russian government. The Kremlin entered the imposing Trinity Gate Tower, you spend the Arsenal with its line of guns before they reach the central square around which stand four great cathedrals Kremlin. The parade began before noon, crowds gathered around the perimeter of the square, behind barriers. A military band came out first and entertain us with an infectious upbeat music. The cavalry led the procession on the square with great pomp and splendorThere was a lot of goose-stepping, gun 'dance' and walking training. I almost jumped out of my skin when the guns were fired! The cavalry also made some impressive training movements, horses were splendid.Kremlin Military ParadeAfter the parade, we were relaxed to the bone, there was a cold wind. We looked heat inside cathedrals, they were all very interesting and beautiful. The Archangel Cathedral housed the tombs of princes and emperors 1300, these included Ivan the Terrible, but his grave was behind the wooden screen. Each of the cathedrals was highly decorated with colorful painted wallsWe had a short walk through the small park before admiring the Kremlin Tsar bell, the largest bell in the world, although never rang. The Kremlin, Moscow once out of the Kremlin there is a shopping mall with a food court in front of the Tower Gate Trinity where there are many choices of food. We even returned to Trent off the Vilnius to St. Petersburg rail there, which was quite a wonderful surprise! After lunch we toured the iconic completely Red Square . On the right of the square is red, crenellated wall of the Kremlin, to the left is the glamor GUM {more airy mall store} and at the very end of immediately recognizable Cathedral St Basil. Sitting beneath the Kremlin wall is the brooding pyramid cube that is Lenin's Mausoleumas you get closer to St Basil, also known as the church of the Savior, crazy colors and patterns of its domes become more apparent. Frivolous, saturated colors and ice cream swirls. Inside the ground is much more organic, the walls are decorated with a pattern of simple flower. The cathedral is in fact a number of small chapels, St. Basil is one of them. The chapels are linked with dark arched corridors and narrow spiral stairsIt was exciting to be standing on the Red square, one of these brilliant travel times when you can not believe everything you are really there! He lived fully up to my expectations. Another day in Moscow post coming soonMoscow
