Who is overlanding by Iran this year? -

Iran is a country often in the news and usually for the wrong reasons! Although last week the UK announced it would reopen its embassy in Tehran and positive noises emanating from both sides.

The ladies in Iran

Leaving the murky world of international politics aside, our experience of the people of Iran were extremely warm and welcoming . Our trip to Iran in June this year, crossed the desert of Kavir and places like Isfahan, Persopolis, Tehran, Mashhad and many smaller less known places visited. The journey through this unique and interesting country took 19 days, with each day presenting a new adventure or experience.

Our 16 adventurous travelers and Oasis Overland Crew Malcolm and Grace feasted on fantastic local dishes, had their eyes opened by the exotic sights and Persian experienced hospitality at its best. The local guide in the truck helped explain some of the history of places we traveled through. The curious but polite, local people were so happy to see foreign visitors again after so many years. Now (and in the next two years), it is time to be visiting Iran before the return of mass tourism.

A taste of Iran!

Our next trip departs from Bishkek to Istanbul on August 21 and September 5, 2014, and (along with Iran) moves through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.

Bishkek to Istanbul 63 days

Bishkek to Istanbul 78 days

Alternatively if you are looking for a shorter journey through Iran, on Katie our Central Asia office will be able to offer a smaller section of the trips above, to allow you to focus on the visit to Iran.
